“ I discovered Café Verlan when I moved to Amsterdam two years ago. I was immediately drawn to the style, the name Verlan itself, and the atmosphere. Sander, one of the co-founders, welcomed me with a big smile, and I have been returning to this restaurant regularly ever since. The quality of the food is remarkable, the beef is incredibly tender, and the sea bass is always absolutely fresh. The bone marrow with a touch of saltiness from fish roe and a hint of citrus is the perfect appetizer. The cheese selection from Abraham Keff is splendid. In short, I love this place, the atmosphere, and the delicious, precise bistro cuisine. ”
“ Last visited December 2024. I should revisit this place, but rather than selecting the 4 course chefs menu, I should order directly from the menu. Not sure when I'll check this place out again. I would have expected the chefs menu to blend nicely but I only liked two of the 4 courses. Not that impressed..... overall disappointed Solo dining? Depends on where they seat you. I was at the end of the bar but felt somewhat isolated. ”

“ Skate was delicious and charcuterie board was also a great appetizer. Nice atmosphere and vibe, a little on the pricier side. Service was a bit slow in the beginning, but overall good - wish there would been more welcoming attitude from wait staff. ”
